
This year we will be offering three different classes taught by industry leading instructors.
A Beginner and Intermediate/Advanced class taught by Scot Harden, and a Women's only class with instructors Pat Jacques of ADVWoman and Shalmarie Wilson of SheADV.
Participants in all classes will receive bonus points as well as get credit for points of interest along the route if applicable.
Beginner & Intermediate/Advanced Class
Lessons from Baja & Dakar for Everyday Adventure Riders
BEGINNER CLASS:
Beginner Level Training class will focus on fundamental riding techniques designed to help each rider improve their overall control and confidence. The class will begin with 20 minutes of classroom instruction followed by practice exercises on a special on site course. Each rider will receive one-to-one personalized instruction and will be exposed to a series of drills that can be applied long after the class is over. Control and safety rely on sound fundamental riding skills. This class will demonstrate these and provide reference materials to help you on your journey as an adventure/dual sport rider. This class is for newcomers to the sport and will provide a strong foundation for future growth and development.

ADVANCED CLASS:
This class is tailored to intermediate/advanced riders, includes a classroom rider training seminar followed by a riding skills techniques course held on site. Following the fundamental technique portion the class will participate in a 25+ mile lead-follow ride in real world adventure conditions outside camp. The seminar will cover rider/bike set-up, physical and mental preparation learned from forty years of Baja/Dakar racing and applying it to a real-world adventure riding. The lead-follow guided ride will offer an opportunity for students to apply the fundamental skills they’ve been exposed to in real world conditions with stops for demonstrations and training along the way. This class provides a comprehensive overview to help you take your current skill set to the next level.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR SCOT HARDEN
For over five decades Scot Harden has traveled an amazing road as an international off-road racing champion, corporate executive and advocate for the sport of off-road racing. Today he is one of the most widely recognized and respected names in the sport. With 14 overall wins and 38 class championships at the Baja 1000, Baja 500, Las Vegas 400, SCORE, BITD, and other major Baja/off-road events to pioneering Rally competitions in North Africa to leading the first U.S. motorcycle team effort at the grueling Dakar Rally to building companies, and brands, Harden has impacted an entire generation of off-road enthusiasts. His contributions to iconic brands like KTM, Husqvarna, Zero Motorcycles, Best In The Desert and a whole host of aftermarket companies as Race Team Mg., factory rider, sales/marketing executive, spokesperson and brand ambassador has left a huge mark on the industry and sport. Already a member of several prestigious Hall of Fames including the AMA, Trailblazers and Hot Shoe Hall of Fames Harden has been named by SCORE Journal as one of the “All Time Baja Moto Greats” and one of the “Top 10 Riders” in the history of U.S. offroad motorcycle competition by Dirt Rider Magazine. As an off-road, dual sport and adventure riding instructor Harden has shared his experience and knowledge with over 3000 students to date helping them improve their skills, become more competent riders and achieve their personal riding goals. Level 1 Training focuses on balance, getting your foot down (even if you’re short,) clutch control, body position, slow riding, and braking skills.
Level 2 Training (Sat. only) refines Level 1 skills and focuses on enduro turns, counter balanced turns, line choice, hill stops and starts. Level 1 training is a prerequisite for Level 2.
We combine “Skills and Drills” in the morning with a two-hour outride after lunch. Training on the trail combines real world experiences with the fun of bagging some Scavenger hunt points!
Pat and Shalmarie will host a Women’s Meet and Greet with wine & Cheese. This is a great opportunity to connect with other women, especially solo women, form teams, train, compete and have fun together!
Participants will receive bonus points as well as get credit for points of interest along the route.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS

On and off her motorcycle Pat Jacques is a genuine, courageous, authentic BadAss! She’s a pioneer woman who raced men’s motocross, successful entrepreneur, and founder of ADVWoman. Pat’s passion is empowering women through personal and motorcycle coaching. She’s been riding, racing, and teaching motorcycling for over 50 years. Women are physically different, develop confidence differently, and communicate differently. Riding is more than just riding for women. It’s freedom, fun, connection, and comradery with other women! Pat’s methods create the optimal learning experience for women. She has a unique talent for breaking skills into teachable pieces, inspiring confidence, and helping riders to achieve tremendous success. Pat is energetic, vibrant, and quick to laugh! She is excited to work and play women riders at ADV Rally & Camp.

Shalmarie Wilson is a certified Total Control and Motorcycle Safety Foundation motorcycle instructor for on street training and Dragoo Adventure Rider Training (D.A.R.T), as well as ADVWoman trained for adventure riding. In 2014-15, she rode over 31,000 miles covering much of North America. In that time, she set the original (known) record for the most Backcountry Discovery Routes (BDR) traveled back-to-back with 5 total, they included the AZ, CO, WA, ID, and the NM. To date, she has ridden 9 of the 12 BDRs and over 10,000 miles in the backcountry. Shal was part of the New Mexico Expedition Team for the filming of the NMBDR back in 2015. Shal is the original founder of SheADV.com, which was created in 2015. SheADV is a women’s advocacy organization dedicated to inspiring, celebrating, and helping women realize their adventure motorcycle dreams. SheADV helps connect, educate and empower women in this sport. In addition, Shal travels and trains around the country at events like Overland Expo, Touratech rallies, Dirty for Good, as well as individual and/or small group trainings and tours. She has co-led 8 Backcountry Tours in the states of WA, ID, and CO, and has lead 3 tours on the east coast, as well as led individual custom tours on other BDRs, with the primary focus on supporting women to adventure out, push the limits and experience life in the backcountry. As a BDR Ambassador, she is always educating riders on the mission of the BDR organization and encouraging them to get out and RIDE! She believes everyone should, “Redline their lives, by living it to the fullest,” for her, riding her GS in the backcountry is doing just that.
