Scot Harden & Quinn Cody to Lead Advanced Training Class at 2022 Adventure Rally and Camp

Lessons from Baja & Dakar for Everyday Adventure Riders

Off-road racing and riding legends, Scot Harden and Quinn Cody will lead a pair of advanced training classes during the 2022 edition of the Adventure Rally & Camp in Julian, Calif., November 3-4.

The class, which is set up for intermediate/advanced riders, includes a classroom rider training seminar followed by a 26-mile ride encompassing Oriflamme Gorge. The seminar will cover an overview of rider/bike preparation based on taking what Harden and Cody have learned from Baja/Dakar racing and applying to a real-world adventure ride setting. Following the classroom seminar, the class will be led on a guided ride with stops for demonstrations and training along the way.

Participants will receive bonus points as well as get credit for points of interest along the route.

Times:
Thursday:

8:00am – 12:00pm – ADV Bikes
1:00pm – 5:00pm – Dual Sport bikes only

Friday:
8:00am – 12:00pm – ADV Bikes
1:00pm – 5:00pm – Dual Sport bikes only

Cost: $160
The class is capped at 12 participants.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS

Harden, a 2008 inductee into the AMA Hall of Fame, as well as a member of the Trailblazer Hall of Fame and Hot Shoe Hall of Fame, is one of the world’s top desert and rally motorcycle racing competitors. He’s earned multiple overall wins at the Baja 1000, Baja 500, Las Vegas 400, and Parker 400, as well as being a muti time BITD and SCORE Champion. On the international scene he is a 3-time ISDE medalist and in 1987 became the first American in history to win a North African Marathon Raid Rally winning the Djerba Tunisia Rally overall. From 2003 to 2005 he led the Red Bull/KTM US Dakar effort.  He is currently the President of Harden Off-Road, founder of the Nevada 200 Tailride and co-founder with Johnny Campbell of the Handstands at 100mph Baja/Desert Racing initiative.

Cody, who serves as the KTM North America R&D Test Manager, is a 4-time Baja 1000 champion and has three Baja 500 titles to his credit as well. The California native is also a two-time winner of the Sonora Rally and claimed victory in the Vegas to Reno as a solo. He finished as the top rookie in the Dakar Rally in 2011, finishing ninth overall. Cody is currently a Kurt Caselli Foundation board member.

Beginner Class

Lance Thomas will be teaching the Beginner ADV Skills Class again this year at the Adventure Rally Series in Julian. This year he will be teaching four 2 hour Basic/intermediate classes. Limited space available.

Lance spent 5 years as coach at BMWs off road Riding Academy . Currently Lance and his brother teach one and two day dirt riding clinics at BMW Dealerships around the country. Lance also teaches off road riding skills to veterans at the Motorcycle Relief Project. “I really enjoy helping people learn the skills it takes to get the most out of their adventure bikes .“

The class will be working on:
Standing while riding, Slow speed  balance control, Counterbalancing in turns, Braking in the dirt, Other important off road  riding skills as time permits.
